Every word, as it is read.

It’s okay to feel lost after living so long in a version of yourself shaped to please others. You got good at reading rooms. You learned early which version of you was welcome and which one caused problems. So you kept the welcome version out front — agreeable, useful, easy — and you pushed the rest down. It worked, in the way that survival strategies work.
But now, you notice that the person doing all that agreeing doesn’t feel like you anymore. This is what the article calls sociotropy — a personality style built around extreme sensitivity to social approval and fear of rejection. When you were small, you learned to stop expressing parts of yourself that felt dangerous. That learning was rational then. It kept something important intact — peace, attachment, safety. The problem is, that learning doesn’t expire. It stays with you, like software written for a computer you no longer own.
Tonight, allow yourself to see this clearly. The person you buried was doing their best to keep you safe. Now, you can begin to bring that person back. You don’t have to carry old fears or doubts into tomorrow. You can rest knowing that your true self is waiting patiently, ready to awaken with kindness and trust.

People-Pleasing and the Self You Buried.
This Ritual draws on our article about people-pleasing: what happened to the parts of you that were not welcome, why it was almost inevitable, and what the research says about finding your way back.
A reflective practice, not therapy. If distress is persistent or severe, speak with a qualified professional.
Yours would begin with your words.
